Kent Cowherd
Kent moved to Crested Butte in 1990 after graduating from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in architecture. He enjoys an active lifestyle that includes mountain biking, snowboarding, and camping. His passion for the outdoors lead him to Crested Butte where he started his design business in 1991 after achieving his professional architect license.
Kent is also involved in local Crested Butte government where he currently serves on town council. He is a retired firefighter with 21 years of experience, who served on the Fire Department Board of Directors for 8 years.
Alex Mattes-Ritz
Alex grew up in Massachusetts but spent much of his summers in the Sangre De Cristo mountains of southern Colorado. He moved to Crested Butte in 2006 after graduating from The Colorado College with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics.
Alex taught himself CAD and began working for Kent Cowherd in 2016. Since then he has drafted a wide variety of projects including single family residences, multi-family affordable housing, commercial and mixed-use buildings, employee dwellings, renovations of historic structures, as well as various remodels and additions. He has shepherded projects through design review and permitting processes in Crested Butte, Mt. Crested Butte, Crested Butte South, Skyland Metropolitan District, Meridian Lake, and numerous other subdivisions in Gunnison County.
Nolen Davis
Nolen moved to Crested Butte in 2022 after graduating from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in architecture. He has been working for Kent since his arrival and has worked on projects in Crested Butte, Mount Crested Butte, Marble, and others throughout the Gunnison valley.
Nolen is proficient in 2-D CAD drafting and 3-D modelling software. Nolen’s ability to generate both exterior and interior 3-D renderings has helped our clients visualize their projects during the design process. These 3-D renderings allow both our clients and our team to make more informed design decisions, resulting in a more refined final product.
